Why Adults Choose Taekwon-Do
While Taekwon-Do is increasingly popular with children due to its emphasis on respect, focus, and discipline, it was originally developed as a military martial art for adults. These same values—Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit—are just as vital for adults in everyday life.
In our adult classes, you’ll:
Improve physical fitness, flexibility, and stamina
Learn practical self-defence techniques
Gain confidence through structured progression
Reduce stress and boost mental focus
Join a supportive community and make new friends
What You’ll Learn
Taekwon-Do training for adults includes:
🔹 Fundamental movements – the building blocks of all techniques
🔹 Patterns (Tul) – choreographed sequences simulating defence against multiple opponents
🔹 Sparring – safe, controlled practice against moving opponents
🔹 Self-defence – real-life techniques for defending yourself effectively
🔹 Dallyon – physical conditioning and development of striking tools
As explained by General Choi Hong Hi, the founder of Taekwon-Do, the art has no beginning or end. Even advanced students continually return to basic movements to refine their technique and improve performance.
Training follows a natural progression, much like military training:
Fundamentals = Basic training
Dallyon = Equipment maintenance
Patterns = Tactical preparation
Sparring = Field practice
Self-defence = Real-life application
