A Successful Grading Day at HSTS Taekwon-Do
On Sunday 13th September 2026, our Hitchin Dojang hosted the latest HSTS Taekwon-Do Colour Belt Grading and Black Belt Assessments.
From 9:00am until 2:30pm, students of different ages and grades from across our HSTS Taekwon-Do clubs demonstrated the skills they have developed through many hours of dedicated training.
Demonstrating Taekwon-Do Skills and Knowledge
Throughout the grading, students were tested in a wide range of areas, including:
- Patterns
- Fundamental movements and techniques
- Sparring
- Fitness
- Destruction and breaking techniques
- Taekwon-Do theory and knowledge
- Discipline, perseverance and spirit
A Taekwon-Do grading is about much more than earning a new belt. It gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their progress, perform under pressure and take another important step forward in their martial arts journey.
Every student who stepped onto the floor showed courage, commitment and determination. We are incredibly proud of the effort they put into preparing for the day and the positive attitude they displayed throughout their grading or assessment.
Colour Belt Grading and Black Belt Assessments
The day included both colour belt grading examinations and assessments for students working towards their next black belt grade.
For our colour belt students, the grading was an opportunity to demonstrate the techniques and knowledge required for promotion to their next level.
Our black belt candidates faced a detailed assessment of their technical ability, fitness, knowledge and readiness to move forward. These assessments form an important part of their preparation for the official UTA Black Belt Grading.
Thank You to Our Grading Examiners
We would like to thank our senior instructors and grading examiners for giving their time, sharing their experience and helping the day run smoothly:
- Master Horan, 8th Dan
- Mrs Oakley, 6th Dan
- Mr Lavery, 5th Dan
- Mr Oakley, 5th Dan
- Mr Rose, 5th Dan
- Mr Jones, 5th Dan
Their knowledge, experience and continued support help us maintain high standards across all our HSTS Taekwon-Do classes.
Congratulations to All Our Students
Well done to everyone who took part in the September grading and black belt assessments.
Regardless of the result, stepping forward to be examined is an achievement in itself. Every grading provides valuable experience and shows students how far they have progressed since beginning their Taekwon-Do journey.
We hope everyone is proud of their performance and uses the experience as motivation to continue learning, improving and working towards their next goal.
